Every guide here is worked from the same engine the calculators use, so the numbers in the prose are the numbers the tool would give you. They are written to be read once and then acted on.
Monitors and desks
- The best monitor size for programmingAt a comfortable 1.96 mm per character, a 27 inch fits 305 columns and 73 lines; a 32 inch fits 361 columns and 87 lines. Three code panes need a full 32.
- How far should you sit from a 27 inch monitor?60 to 75 cm is the honest range for a 27 inch monitor. At 60 cm it fills 53 degrees of view; at 80 cm, 41. And 1440p only stops showing pixels at 80 cm.
- How much bigger does a 32 inch monitor feel than a 27?11.07 cm wider, 6.23 cm taller and 40.5% more screen area than a 27 inch — plus 7.5 degrees more field of view at 70 cm. What that actually feels like.

- Is 4K worth it at 27 inches?At 60 cm, a 27 inch 4K gives 67 pixels per degree and 1440p gives 45. The eye resolves about 60 PPD at 20/20. That is the whole answer — with the caveats.
- Is a 32 inch monitor too big? Your desk depth decidesA 32 inch is 70.8 cm wide and wants 75 to 80 cm of eye distance for comfort. A 60 cm desk gives you roughly 55. That gap, and the two ways to close it.
- Ultrawide or two monitors? Measured on a deskA 49 inch 32:9 is 119.8 cm wide. Two 27 inch 1440p panels are 119.5 cm of glass. Same width, nearly the same pixels and PPI. The difference is the seam.
- What size monitor do I need?A 27 inch wants 60 to 75 cm of eye distance and a 32 inch wants 75 to 80. Your desk depth decides more than the panel does, so it is drawn here to scale.

Televisions and rooms
- Every TV size compared to a 65 inch, to scaleA 75 is 15% wider than a 65 but 33% more screen. An 85 is 71% more screen. Every size from 43 to 100 inch, indexed against the size you already picture.
- How high should a TV be mounted?Screen centre at seated eye level, about 105 cm. That puts a 65 inch bottom edge at 64.5 cm and a 85 inch at 52.1 cm. The chart, and the fireplace test.
- Screen size is a lieA 55 inch TV is 121.8 cm wide — 47.9 inches, not 55. The 55 is only the diagonal of the glass, and it stops being comparable the moment the shape changes.
- How wide is a 65 inch TV, really?The screen measures 143.9 cm wide. The body is about 145 cm. The feet can span less than either. Three numbers, and which one decides whether it fits.
- PPI vs PPD: the number that actually mattersA 65 inch 4K TV at 2.5 m gives your eye 116 pixels per degree. A 27 inch 4K monitor at 60 cm gives only 67. The TV wins — and here is why PPI alone hid that.
- Will a 65 inch TV fit where my 55 was?You need 22.1 cm more width and 12.5 cm more height, and the wall bracket has to come down 6.2 cm to keep the exact same eye line. The full 55-to-65 check.
- What size TV for a 12x12 room?A 12x12 ft room gives you about 2.6 to 3.0 m of viewing distance, which puts the honest answer at 65 to 75 inches — and checking the wall confirms it.
- What size TV stand for a 65 inch TV?A 65 inch TV is about 145 cm of body, so the stand should be at least 150 cm and ideally 155 to 165 cm wide. The real constraint is foot span, not width.

- Best TV size for 10 feetAt ten feet the distance stops being the limit and the wall takes over. A 65 inch on a standard wall, an 85 inch on a wide one, with the angles measured.
- What size TV for a bedroomA bedroom is a short throw and a narrow wall. From 2 m a 50 inch is the strongest match; from 2.5 m a 55. Everything above 65 inches is ruled out on width.

- Best TV size for 8 feetAt eight feet a 65 inch is the strongest match and a 55 inch the safe one. The angles each size makes from that seat, and the wall width each one needs.
