Google’s advertising cookies

This site has applied to Google AdSense for advertising, and Google is reviewing the application. Until it is approved, Google’s advertising script loads on the home page and the TV and monitor size calculators, and their translations, so that Google can review the site, and no advertisement is shown. If it is approved, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, or similar identifiers, to serve and measure ads, which can include ads based on your previous visits to this or other websites. Google lists the cookies it and its partners use for advertising at business.safety.google/adscookies.

You can turn off personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of participating vendors individually at aboutads.info/choices. Blocking cookies, or using an ad blocker, does not break anything here: every calculator works exactly the same way with the advertising blocked.

Before Google’s script loads, the site sets Google’s consent signals for advertising storage, advertising data and personalisation to denied, and nothing on the site changes them, so there is nothing to accept or refuse yet. Google’s own consent message, for visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, is switched on the day ads go live, and this page changes that day. The privacy policy describes what the script sends to Google while it loads.

What we store on your device

One key, displayscale:unit, holds whether you prefer centimetres or inches. It is not a cookie — it never leaves your browser, is never attached to a network request, and clearing your browser’s site data removes it. The site works exactly the same with storage blocked; it simply asks your preference again next time.
