Forty per cent more screen, not nineteen
The diagonal grows by five inches, the width by 11.1 cm, and the area by 40 %. Area is the number that matches how the change feels, because a window you open takes up area rather than width — and it is the number nobody quotes, because the diagonal is what is printed on the box.
The desk depth matters more than the desk width
A single 32 inch fits every desk in our list on width. Depth is the constraint nobody checks: the comfortable viewing distance for a 32 inch at work is roughly 67 to 92 cm, and a standard 60 cm desk puts your eyes at about 65 cm from the glass. You end up too close to a panel whose edges are then outside the range your eyes sweep without moving your head.
That is a real, physical reason to prefer the 27 inch on a shallow desk, and it is not a matter of taste. On a 70 or 80 cm desk the objection goes away.
Resolution is not optional at 32 inches
At 1440p a 32 inch is 92 ppi — the density of a 24 inch 1080p panel, and fine for media, spreadsheets and games. For text all day, 4K on a 32 inch is 138 ppi and is the version of this size worth owning. There is no 1080p 32 inch in our catalog for the same reason there is no reason to buy one.

- Not for a single screen — a 32 inch body is about 72.4 cm wide and fits every standard desk. It is a problem in pairs: two need about 147 cm, so only a 160 cm desk takes them.

- It is 92 pixels per inch, the same density as a 24 inch 1080p panel. Perfectly usable, noticeably softer than a 27 inch at the same 1440p, which is 109 ppi.
